Goedendag ;)

"Some of us may have run across a brushless motor that has questionable operation, perhaps after overheating it, or after crash damage. It may even have come from a swap shop. The question is "Do you want to connect it to an ESC" and risk possible damage to the ESC? ..."

Several simple test methods:

Is there a test to determinate the rpm without using a tachometer?

What you could try, don't know if it works, is using a lamp (incandescent or TL?) as a stroboscope. They provide 100 (not 50!) light pulses per second. Make a mark on your spinner (or fabricate a simple disc). Spin motor up until mark is stationary and clearly visible. Now you know your motor is doing 3000rpm. When you see 2 marks your motor is doing 6000, 3marks gives 9000rpm etc. The principle is sound of course, don't know whether a simple light source will do the trick though. Please let me know.

First I'll try to find a stroboscope lamp and than I let you know :D
Anyway,thanks for your answer.
I think that is much more simple to buy a tachometer .

P.S.
Your posts are verry helpful, especialy the CD ROM -brushless(for me)

I'm curious whether a standard lamp would do it too.
But a tachometer is always a good investment for an RC pilot :D

To me Rumanian and Italian look very similar (if not: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ )

(And the Dutch language is not a German dialect, it's older than the language spoken in Germany http://www.rhcforum....tyle_emoticons/default/tongue.gif )
